Capacitor Code Converter

Small ceramic and film capacitors are marked with a 3-digit code instead of the actual value. Decode codes like 104 into pF, nF, and µF, or find the code for any capacitance.

How It Works

The first two digits are the significant figures and the third digit is the number of zeros, giving a value in picofarads. So 104 = 10 followed by 4 zeros = 100,000 pF = 100 nF = 0.1 µF. Codes below 100 (like 47) are the plain value in pF, and a third digit of 9 means ×0.1 (so 479 = 4.7 pF).

A trailing letter is the tolerance:
